Directions to the Old City Cemetery
from
Poplar Forest or Bedford


  1. Take Rt. 221 EAST to Lynchburg (Rt. 29 becomes Forest Road near city)

  2. Pass Graves Mill Road on RIGHT

  3. Turn RIGHT at stoplight onto Rt. 501 SOUTH/Lynchburg Expressway

  4. Rt. 501 SOUTH/Lynchburg Expressway becomes Rt. 29 NORTH BUSINESS

  5. Pass exits for Odd Fellows Road, Kemper Street, and Grace Street

  6. Take Exit 1A (follow brown sign for “Lynchburg Downtown Historic District”)

  7. Bear RIGHT onto Main Street

  8. Pass Community Market on LEFT, Academy of Music on RIGHT

  9. Turn LEFT at stoplight onto Fifth Street

  10. Follow Fifth Street for 10 blocks to Taylor Street (pass Jackson, Polk, and Monroe Streets as you approach Taylor)

  11. Turn RIGHT onto Taylor Street (follow black and gold sign for “Old City Cemetery”)

  12. Follow Taylor Street for 1 block to Cemetery entrance gates—Taylor Street becomes Cemetery driveway
