Virginia Marie Cabell Randolph (1876-1962) taught for over 30 years at the old R. S. Payne and Jackson Street Elementary Schools. After her retirement, she established a Community House at 812 Eighth Street, where she directed numerous cultural, educational, and welfare activities. Randolph's youth program evolved into the first Boy and Girl Scouts program for black children in Lynchburg. She is buried with her parents in the Cabell family plot.
