Ottawa Anna Gladman Curle (1857-1885) was one of the first three African Americans hired to teach in the Lynchburg public schools in 1879. She was the daughter of prominent free black barber, Thomas G. Gladman, and was a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C.
