Hayes-Reid Family Plot
With the beloved "Miss Willie" Hayes (1865-1962) at its head, the Hayes-Reid family has long given strength and character to the Tinbridge neighborhood surrounding the Cemetery, as well as to the Lynchburg community. Among prominent family members, Willie Hayes's son, Harry Wilson Reid (1892-1969), was the first African-American pharmacist in Lynchburg, practicing at Bacchus & Reid Pharmacy, Fifth and Jackson Streets. Because of Cemetery overcrowding, his grave is on the outside of the Old Brick Wall.
