Julia Whiteley Branch (c.1850-1937) was a respected midwife and beloved baby nurse in the late 19th and early 20th-centuries. The families she attended were among those prominent in the development of Lynchburg and include Sydnor, Harris, Ivey, Dabney, Hirsch, and Lee. The exact location of her grave is unknown, although it could be near her daughter Winnie and her brother Phillip Pleasant. He fought in the 43rd U.S. Colored Infantry during the Civil War.
