"Mammy" Anica Mitchell (c.1850-1917) was a "faithful and beloved" domestic servant of the Moore family of Lynchburg for 43 years. A "Mammy" was a cherished member of many prominent families, and there are many other gravestones in the Cemetery that describe this unique southern relationship.
