Grammy-nominated pianist Bryan Wright will perform a selection of Ragtime, early Jazz, and syncopated piano pieces. The works will span more than a century, from the 1890s to today, by composers well-known and obscure. In this program, he hopes to demonstrate the remarkable variety of music to be found under the umbrella of Ragtime. Some of the pieces are light-hearted toe-tappers, while others convey a quiet, wistful lyricism. All of the pieces reflect a uniquely American flavor. Pre-registration requested, seating is limited.
