Obituary and Biographical Detials

N.B. According to TLV, when George R. Lyman died in 1886, he was buried “in the family burial lot in the Old Methodist graveyard,” with his predeceased brother. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Diuguid indicates he was interred in Presbyterian Cemetery, and he has a stone there today. William E. Lyman may be the “predeceased brother” mentioned in George’s obituary.

FYI…
George R. Lyman (1835–1886)
Leader of 11th Virginia Infantry (Home Guard) and Second Virginia Cavalry (Fitz Lee Troop) Bands during Civil War; “had a passionate fondness for music;” leader of “Lyman’s Band” after the Civil War; “ ‘a man of infinite jest’ ”
