Cemetery Center houses a museum of American mourning customs and artifacts, burial records in the office of the Southern Memorial Association, a gift shop, and public handicapped-accessible restrooms.  The Lee Reading Room, Taylor Conservatory, and Christian Vault are on the lower level.

The Victorian Era brought to America many unusual customs for mourning the deceased.  Lynchburg residents – including children – followed national trends and wore special clothing and jewelry for a very long time after a loved one had passed.  Historian Judith Harvey will share the customs and the history behind them in this special tour.
