Come hear members of Richmond’s Friends of East End Cemetery discuss their efforts to protect and preserve one of Richmond’s prominent and historical African American cemeteries. Like Old City Cemetery, East End Cemetery fell into a state of neglect, and stones were covered by underbrush or completely buried until this organization began restoring East End in 2013. OCC is excited to hold a Holiday Open House where there will be deals on many items in the Gift Shop as well as book signings of our Florilegium of Roses (by Tica Sydnor & Linda Murphy), a new biography of Dr. John Jay Terrell (by Dr. Charles Driskall), and the Lynchburg favorite Goodnight Lynchburg (by Richard Loving). This will be a great time to meet the authors and do some holiday shopping.

Come hear Everett Godwin bring Christmas through the ages to life on the piano in the Cemetery’s Bicentennial Chapel. He will perform Christmas songs from the Colonial and Victorian eras, the mid-1900s, and modern-day. Enjoy many Christmas classics and maybe sing along to one or two.
