The Edith Lee Reading Room is an intimate and comfortable multipurpose meeting space in one of the most beautiful and historic settings in Central Virginia.
The reading room was created in 2010 during the renovation and expansion of the Cemetery Center. The estate of Edith Brooks Lee, a longtime Lynchburg educator, funded a large portion of this project. Her name, dates, and life “motto” are engraved on slate tiles around the edge of the Reading Room floor. The Southern Memorial Association decided to open the Reading Room to the general public for rental in 2014.
