The Lynchburg Public Works Department has officially hired Evan Reedy as the Cemetery’s new “Historic Grounds Supervisor.” Evan’s first day at the Cemetery was March 10, 2016, and he has been hard at work since then preparing the grounds for the busy spring season ahead. Evan replaces Laurie McMinn, who left the Public Works Department in May 2015.
The Historic Grounds Supervisor (HGS) oversees the maintenance of the entire 27 acres of Old City Cemetery. Although the HGS is a Public Works employee, he or she works closely with the staff, volunteers, and board members of the non-profit Southern Memorial Association in the daily operation of the Cemetery.
Evan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from Ferrum College and is the former owner of Reedy Hill Gardens landscaping business. He has over 15 years of experience in the landscaping field. His extensive horticultural knowledge and work ethic will greatly benefit the Cemetery. Evan and his wife Angela have one 16-month-old son. They are planning to move very soon from Altavista to Lynchburg.
Please help us welcome Evan to the Cemetery!
