The “old roses” are the soul of the Old City Cemetery gravegarden.  Originally, they were planted by families on the graves of their loved ones.  These horticulture treasures will be studied and painted in the water-color workshops, led by botanical artist Tica Sydnor. Each session is two days, May 11 and 12, 10:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:00.   Lunch is 1:00- 2:00.  Bring a bag lunch.  Drinks and cookies will be provided. Memorial Day Bird Walk and Count

Join members of the Lynchburg Bird Club for their annual species tally during the peak of the bird population. Rain or shine.  Bring your binoculars. Special note, the Lynchburg Bird Club meets at the Cemetery every third Thursday in the month, at 8:30 a.m., March-November to enjoy a bird identifying walk!  Anyone may join the group!

National Donut Day

Old City Cemetery is serving free coffee and donuts in honor of National Donut Day, Friday June 2. 8-11 a.m.  Soon after the US entrance into World War I in 1917, The Salvation Army sent a fact-finding mission to France. The mission concluded that the needs of US enlisted men could be met by canteens/social centers termed "huts" that could serve baked goods, provide writing supplies and stamps, and provide a clothes-mending service.
